Today, in the town of Elne (Pyrénées-Orientales, South of France), the name of the local cinema called “René Vautier” has been a changed by the far-right town council.
Like many other cinemas all around France, La Clef displays this name in support: René Vautier was an essential filmaker, anticolonial activist, resistant during the 1940-44 period, unionist who dedicated his carreer and art to fight racisme, social injustices and the violence of wars.
To prevent this attempt to erase this cultural legacy, the collective of La Clef will screen from now on one of his short films at the begining of each screeninig session. A special thank to Mutins de Pangée and Moïra Chappedelaine.
